Jeremy Lawton Susac

Concurrent with this position, Mr. Susac serves as the Executive Director of the Florida Bio-Energy Association, Director of Smart Grid and Innovation with Citizens for Clean Energy, an associate member on the Southern States Energy Board, and serves as a member on the Growth and Infrastructure Task Force for the Economic Council of Palm Beach County. Additionally, Mr. Susac serves as a ‘Senior Associate’ with the national firm Smart Energy GridAssociates (SEGA), special counsel to the national education campaign ‘American Biofuels Now’ and is designated as an ‘energy expert’ with the Florida media.
Immediately prior, Mr. Susac served in the public sector as Florida’s first Executive Director (ED) of the Florida Energy & Climate Commission (FECC).
In addition, Jeremy served as the Executive office of the Governor’s appointee on all stimulus funding relating to energy under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. Additionally, Jeremy also oversaw all State incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency for the State of Florida while simultaneously coordinating state and federal energy policy on behalf of the FECC, Executive Office of the Governor. During this same time, Mr. Susac served as a technical advisor to the Governor and the Secretary Mike Sole of the Department of Environmental Protection during the passage of Florida’s most comprehensive energy bill, HB 7135 in 2008. Lastly, in this capacity, Mr. Susac also served as Florida’s energy delegate to the National Governor’s Association, the Southern Governor’s Association, and was appointed by the Governor to serve as the Governor’s alternate on the Southern State’s Energy Board.
Immediately prior, Mr. Susac served as the Director of Florida’s Energy Office at the Florida DEP.
Additionally, Jeremy managed Florida’s Renewable Energy Grant Program. In addition, Mr. Susac served as Chief Advisor to a Commissioner at the Florida Public Service Commission. At the national level, Mr.Susac also served on the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioner’s Electric, Nuclear, and Consumer Affairs staff subcommittees. Immediately prior, Susac served as a Senior Attorney in the Economic Regulation in Competitive Markets & Enforcement Division of the Florida PSC. Before that, Susac engaged in private law practice in New York City, and served as a summer clerk for a New York Supreme Court Judge.
Susac received a Bachelors of Art degree in Political Science from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor from New York Law School. He is a member of both the Florida and New York Bar.
