First Annual EcoSummit:

Bringing Stakeholders Together to Save the Planet

No Attitudes. No Platitudes

Most people think of Key West, the last island in the string of land points trailing southwest from the Florida mainland, as a place of artists and t-shirt makers, a laid-back locale with bonefish in the bay and endless bottles of beer on the wall.

So do we.

But we also think of it as the place where a commanding force can take shape, a community of corporate executives, policy makers, environmental stakeholders and the general public, who come together to discuss, openly and candidly, the greatest environmental challenges of our time, challenges that threaten the future of Planet Earth.

We must find ways to teach business and industry to be sustainable, using as little of our dwindling natural resources as possible – at the same time improving their bottom lines.

We must find ways to deal with environmental changes that affect sea levels and the destruction of coral reefs on which countless species depend for life and safety. We must find ways to drill for oil and gas in coastal waters without threatening environmental catastrophe. We must deal with the use and disposal of plastics. And so much more.

Solutions won’t happen in a week in November. But we have to start somewhere, some time. The choice of Key West, right now, is as good as any, better than most.

During the EcoSummit, participants will showcase the integration of environment, economics, equity and energy concepts – known as E4 – while addressing how to integrate the mission with real life in practical, affordable ways. And it’s not all work. There will be a wide selection of eco-excursions that contribute to the local economy in socially responsible ways, while showing off the beauty and bio-diversity of the Florida Keys.

By promoting environmental initiatives that create global change together, we will generate collaborative solutions for higher efficiency standards, elimination of pollution and preservation of ecosystems.

And, oh yes, that supply of beer on the wall? Well, we did say it was endless.

Please join us.
